Sterling silver rice bead anklets are comfortable and practical to wear all year around. A comfortable and simple ankle bracelet design with striking elegance. Made in Italy by professional craftspeople with many decades of experience. The beads measure 2.3x3mm, also known as 230 gauge. There are about 7 sterling silver rice beads per inch on this Italian-made sturdy anklet for teens and adult women. The beads are attached on a sterling stopper-chain design, so the beads turn but do not slide up or down. This makes for a comfortable anklet that can be worn under or over the sock and can be worn with other anklets. The lobster-claw spring action clasp on this rice bead anklet measures 4mm wide x 10mm-long by 2.5mm thick. Our rice bead jewelry features and invisible tarnish-preventing coating to keep them looking shiny.
What is sterling silver? Sterling Silver is a metal alloy containing 92.5% silver by weight, and the remaining 7.5% typically consists of other metals, usually copper. Sterling silver is favored for jewelry-making because of its shine, durability, and malleability. Over time, sterling silver may tarnish, so we coat our bracelets with an invisible anti-tarnish finishing. As usual sterling silver can be easily cleaned and polished to restore its original luster.
Why are they called rice beads?
Rice beads are elongated beads that somewhat resemble the shape of short-grain rice. Their elongated oval shape offers a unique look that is different from regular round beads. There is a unique story behind the Rice Bead as well. The history of Rice bead in the U.S. started in 1694 when a ship bound for England was forced into Charleston, SC for repairs after a severe hurricane. The captain gave the governor of the colony a handful of rice grains. From this small quantity of seeds, Charleston was soon supplying all the colonies with high quality rice. Thus, the rice bead is also a symbol of Southern heritage. The Charleston rice bead bracelets, anklets or necklaces, makes great souvenirs or gifts.
Wearing & Styling
Sterling silver rice bead anklets can be worn singularly for a minimalistic look or layered with other anklets for a more bohemian or trendy style. The shiny silver complements various skin tones and can be paired with both casual and formal attire. Over time, due to the natural tarnishing process of sterling silver, the rice bead anklet may take on a more vintage or antique look, which can be quite charming to some wearers. Alternatively, it can be polished with a treated polishing cloth to bring back its original shine.
Care
To prolong the life of your rice bead anklet and prevent tarnishing, it’s advisable to avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, salty water, and extreme temperatures. It’s also a good idea to store it in a jewelry box or pouch when not in use. Rest assured that with any of our sterling silver rice bead anklets, bracelets or necklaces, you’re purchasing a versatile piece of jewelry. A piece of jewelry that combines the luxurious appeal of sterling silver with the unique elegant rice bead design.
