• Regularly wipe sterling silver with a jewelry cleaning cloth. You may also scrub with a toothbrush, using toothpaste or mild liquid soap, for a more thorough cleaning.
• Avoid using chemical liquid cleaners as they may damage your jewelry.
• Store unused items in a dry place, preferably in an airtight zip-bag.
• Take off when showering or before going to the pool or beach.

It is a combination of different metals that are generally far less expensive than silver, gold and other precious metals. The type of alloy used to make most fashion jewelry tends to lose its luster over time as it can be affected by moisture and other elements in the atmosphere. To prevent this from occurring and to keep your jewelry shiny and beautiful for a longer period of time, it is highly recommended that you keep your fashion jewelry in airtight zip-lock bags. Most vendors who sell fashion jewelry will provide you with a storage bag to use when you’re not wearing it.

A helpful item to have on hand is a roll of anti-tarnish jewelry wrapping paper. This can be purchased online or at almost any jewelry supply store. You can’t go wrong with jewelry wrapping paper, because you can use it for all of your jewelry and it even keeps watches looking new. It works great on all precious and semiprecious metals.

Try to avoid getting your fashion jewelry wet. If this happens, you should promptly dry it thoroughly with a soft cotton cloth or fine tissue. Be especially careful about salt water.
